Chelsea have opened discussions with agent Mino Raiola over the signing of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, reports claim.
MilanNews recently reported that Milan are confident regarding the renewal of Donnarumma and are not concerned by the various rumours surrounding him.
Contacts with Gigio’s entourage are ongoing and the negotiation is obviously not straightforward, but the fact that the player wants to stay makes all other hypotheses remote chances at this point.
The Rossoneri’s excellent 2020 – which could coincide with qualification for the Champions League – would eliminate the only possible hitch, which is that that Donnarumma has not yet made his debut in the top European competition.
According to Simon Phillips of TalkChelsea though, Chelsea have started talks with the Italy international and they are hoping to persuade him to join the club this summer when his contract is up.
They splashed £22m on Edouard Mendy of Rennes over the summer but he has so far failed to convince, so this would be a long-term solution for the London club.
