Report: Chiesa remains Milan’s dream and Maldini believes player would accept move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are still interested in the idea of signing Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa this summer but may have to be patient, a report claims.

The Rossoneri were linked with a move for the 22-year-old forward a few weeks ago but things seemed to go quiet as the management appeared to focus on the midfield trio Tiemoue Bakayoko, Sandro Tonali and Brahim Diaz.

However, as journalist Luca Pagni notes, Pioli has made it clear that it will be necessary to strengthen all departments in order to finally reach a top four spot and to compete in the Europa League and Coppa Italia.

He adds that Chiesa is currently a name on Maldini and Massara’s list, and they believe that he would be happy to come to Milan, especially after the latest ambitious market moves.

Dealing with Rocco Commisso and the Fiorentina management is not going to be easy and the asking price for now is high, despite the fact the Italy international’s contract is due to expire next year.

Chiesa remains a dream at the moment and would be the icing on the cake, but first a right-back and a centre-back should arrive. With Chiesa patience may be needed and the opportunity may come, just as it did with Tonali.
