Juventus aren’t pressed to sell Federico Gatti this January window, and subsequently, AC Milan will have to come up with an intriguing proposal to catch their attention.
The centre-back pursuit has been getting a lot of coverage in recent days and rightly so, as it needs to be a huge priority for Milan. They are severely lacking depth at the back and without a reinforcement, they could struggle to even make the top four.

In recent days, Federico Gatti has emerged as a new candidate for the defence, with Massimiliano Allegri knowing the player very well from his time at Juventus. However, as a loan offer was rejected by the Bianconeri, the Rossoneri need to come up with something better.

According to TuttoJuve’s Mirko Di Natale, who is quite reputable when it comes to Juventus, Milan will have to present a much better offer for Gatti. Currently, the Bianconeri absolutely don’t need to part ways with the defender and will only do so if the solution works well for them.
It’s pretty easy to see that a dry loan, potentially with an option to buy, wouldn’t be that. Instead, since the Rossoneri don’t have any money to come with, a player that interests Juve would have to be included. Koni De Winter could be one, as the journalist points out.
However, despite the poor performances of the Belgian, giving him up to get Gatti would sort of be shooting yourself in the foot. After all, Milan need to increase the depth at the back – both quality-wise and numerically – so swapping one defender for another wouldn’t be ideal.

I see that you want to remove as many players as you can. New players need time to adapt to the team and league (sometimes). Because one player adapts well doesn’t mean all players will.

deWinter’a versatility makes it sad for me to see lose a young and talanted defender, even more when he helps us with registrations next year in UCL.

Players need time to gel. De winter has good potential. Doesn’t make sense to move him on

I don’t see the need for this swap. Gatti may be more reliable right now, but de winter is still in his first 3/4 months. Not to mention its not like Gatti is still getting better. He is as good as he’ll get whereas de winter is younger, still getting better and has more potential imo

Two of our center-backs are becoming veterans with Tomori and Gabbia.
We need at least two more experienced players. Gatti would be a good addition but not for DeWinter. DeWinter has great qualities but is still young for a defender. We should keep him unless we receive a Thiaw-like offer.
De winter has not quality and can never improve his one on one marking.. All he does is hold push or pull. He lack match reading and positioning is very poor.
I will trade him for Gatti without looking back and add a other CB to be numerically covered. Thiago silver could have do. talking bout veterans, experience and coordinating the defense.

With Mladini on board, we really got the defenders right, Taiwo and Kalulu being perfect examples. Now, I really think Alegri is holding the team together but sporting vise we are terrible. Just look at this Gatti/De Winter nonsense, while we got robbed with Kalulu.
P.S. I think Alegri can do a lot better with De Winter’s position, but he just wanted to make things obvious to the management that we do need a proper back up for Gabia. And here, Srinkar seems an obvious choice, except of his past….
