Report: Guardiola makes personal phone call in bid to beat Man Utd to €50m Milan star

Both Manchester clubs want to sign AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer in the upcoming transfer window, according to a report.

Bennacer joined from Empoli last summer and has been one of the shining lights in a difficult season for the Rossoneri, earning a spot in the starting XI and never looking back while forming an effective double pivot with Franck Kessie.

According to La Gazette du Fenec, Manchester United and Manchester City are both keen on signing the 22-year-old when the window reopens.

Bennacer has a release clause worth €50million but it is not active until next year, meaning the Rossoneri are able to set their own asking price, although they are not expected to sell.

Pep Guardiola has apparently called the player personally to talk to him about a move to the Etihad Stadium, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views Bennacer as the ideal replacement for Andreas Pereira who could be allowed to leave this summer.
