Simon Kjaer is one of the most experienced players in the AC Milan squad but his future is a bit uncertain. Stefano Pioli prefers others for the heart of the defence and the Dane could thus leave, a report claims.
Kjaer arrived along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January of 2020 and he has since been a very important player for the club. However, after he ruptured his ACL towards the end of 2021, he has struggled to play on a consistent basis.
At the age of 34, he’s seemingly nearing the end of his career and according to MilanPress, Pioli no longer considers Kjaer part of his plans. Therefore, the Dane is allowed to listen to offers this summer.
Once Milan have parted ways with the outcasts in defence, such as Mattia Caldara and Fode Ballo-Toure, they will be able to bring in some reinforcements. Kjaer could perhaps make way for a younger centre-back, but given the departure of Matteo Gabbia the Rossoneri must ensure proper depth.
I hope Kjaer stays. He is a leader.
Kjaer wants to play. Management wants to play young players like Kalulu and Thiaw instead. It was expected that Kjaer and Florenzi will be pushed out this year or next one.
Just let him finish his contract. He is still useful for rotation player, he is always give his best in field & outfield for team.
I think this is a clickbait article, but I agree. I also don’t see us spending the 20-25m we need to for an adequate replacement after Musah, the striker that they still seem to be looking for, and depth at LB (even with sales, unless CDK is sold for a really good price). CB needs some attention but it can wait until 2024.
If nothing else, he’s a leader and an example. Besides, loaning Gabbia out and Kjaer leaving, we are just making another hole to patch while the budget is needed elswhere. Hope it’s only a clickbait report.
Let our leader stay for another year
Kjaer needs to go asap. He’s a liability and we don’t need him or his leadership. If Milan keep him we will have to extend his contract and at 34yrs old there will be no teams lining up to sign him.
Kjaer needs to be replaced by someone who is experienced in Serie A like Demiral who is still 25yrs old.
Atalanta is interested in CDK so we definitely can work out a deal.
Simic is Gabbia replacement so don’t need to spend any money buying another young CB.
Our starting CB should be Thiaw and Demiral. Tomori has too much inconsistency and he needs competition.

We need Kjaer because hi is a leader on and off the pitch, we need his experience in defence and the young defenders we have needs someone to look up to and rely on when things gets hard on and off the pitch. He might not play many matches but hi is a Warrior. This is not FIFA but reality

A season that I believe we will do well ,however, I would certainly love to keep Kjer as he has very good experience and played a useful role last season ,he is another reliable player ,and gives his absolute best ..
Another player who is very versatile and can play in many different positions, including wing and defence when needed ,and another one who always gives his best ,and at times he can deliver some amazing crosses into Olivier Giroud…

He gives his best every time he played but he plays at max 20 games every season and this amount will start dropping. So yh Promote Simic and bring young CB but good if Atalanta want cdk then we should swap him with scalvini otherwise I’m sure we can find exciting prospect that at max costs 15m . Also we can try and get Josip Sutalo fiorentina make 12m I’m sure we can fight them . Or Maxime Esteve or Diego Coppola from Hellas Verona . In General we need depth that can be fit if not all the season, most of the season which kjaer and florenzi doesn’t bring that

Simic isn’t ready for prime time
I hope that all this that is happening in the transfer window, will not go too far. We cannot replace the entire team in a month! Kjaer earned the role of one of the team leaders with his plays and authority. Lately, he has not been in the first 11, but he always plays his role at a level. I would only consider replacing him if he had frequent injuries.
He is a expirienced player and a great leader. The defence is not expirienced enough and young, letting him go would be a mistatke.
Transition is gradual, especially that we have all experienced last season, how Pioli struggled to manage the team with the players at his disposal. Let’s hope Pioli knows what he is doing and that he doesn’t undo all the good work that Milan has been doing in the transfer market. Milan need to start very strong and convincing to help all the new players settled in quickly and experienced players might be needed to calm the nerves aswell.

Tomori is still very young, and Kalulu Thiaw… don’t mention. There are many youngsters in Milan Primavera squad so who is possible to arrive like youngster to bolster Milan squad ?

I think the article is wrong. Pioli know he need experienced defender who can tutor the younger ones, he also know a team need at least 5 CB.
This makes no sense and if true Pioli seems to be getting a big head. Kajer is exactly the player we need. Experience matters. Veterans are needed. He’s not a starter any longer so what is the harm in keeping him as a backup? His salary is reasonable. He’s the fourth choice CB behind Thiaw Tomori and Kalulu. We cannot rely on Simic/Kalulu as our backups only – as Kalulu had some poor performances last season and he needs to continue to develop and Simic is completely unproven. You also take away a leader in the dressing room and a very respected voice amongst the players. Maybe this is what Pioli wants? Nobody to challenge him? Terrible if this is true. I actually think he should stay. We need him as a depth player and he can still play well. Despite not being as good as when we first signed him. You do need some experience.
Very good news indeed, his agitation was the primary reason the very effective and mobile pairing of Kalulu Thaiw Tomori was relegated, and we reverted to a back 2, with him in the line up, he is old, injury prone and a liability, Florenzi also needs to leave, get a young Italian player, or put Coubis permanently in the first team, and play Kalulu instead of Calabria, who is also making tonnes of mistakes, also replace Balo toure with a young and good player.

I’m a bit worried if, as the report suggests, that Pioli no longer considers him part of the plan. It makes no sense really. When did Pioli realise this? Was there a fall out, maybe after the Madrid game?

Managers should learn to see the team first rather than their ego. Being older than the players mean you should be able to manage whatever excess you think a player has – even if it is for a while.

Kalulu injured, Kjaer cant play every week, Gabbia just left? Thank god Simic showed promise cause right now we just got Tomori and Thiaw we can count on. If Kjaer is to leave this season a good CB need to come and Simic need to be promoted to the first team and not sold/loaned out. That would leave us with 5 CBs (Tomori, Thiaw, Kalulu, Simic, Mr X).
