Report: Man Utd ready to spend £40m to beat AC Milan to ‘generational talent’

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United are readying a big-money bid to land talented Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, a report claims.

The Rossoneri have repeatedly been linked with a move for Tonali, a player who has previously revealed his love for the club, claiming Gennaro Gattuso was his childhood idol.

Calciomercato.com reported in September that Milan made a summer bid for Tonali – believed to be in the region of €15-20m – that was ultimately rejected.

However, the same outlet then stated that Milan have not given up on hopes of luring the teenager to San Siro and are constantly monitoring his progress.

Juventus, Inter, Napoli and Fiorentina have all been credited with interest in Serie A, while Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked.

According to English newspaper The Sun, it is United who are hoping to steal a march on the competition as they are preparing a bid worth £40m (€46m) for Tonali.

Scouts are apparently convinced he is a ‘generational talent’ and his performances in Serie A so far have convinced them he is the real deal.

However, the report does state that Milan will provide competition for his signature, along with Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

Brescia president Massimo Cellino declared earlier in the week that he would not even sell Tonali for €300million.
