Report: Milan and Juventus face competition from Real Madrid for €100m-rated striker

By Oliver Fisher -

Real Madrid could provide competition for AC Milan and Juventus in the race to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter, according to a report.

It was claimed by il Corriere dello Sport on Sunday that Milan could once again go back in for Icardi having discussed a possible deal last summer.

They described it as a ‘very difficult’ operation but one that cannot be ruled out due to the infinitely complex nature of the mercato, and Elliott Management are ready to try their luck.

The Rossoneri would have to play on the fact that both Icardi and his wife Wanda Nara want to return to Italy, and that his apparent €100m valuation can be lowered.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com though – who cite the Spanish press – Real Madrid also have the Argentine on their wish list as they consider a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

Depsite this, the report mentions that the player has a willingness to return to Serie A with Juventus and Milan ready to court him.
