Report: Milan clash crucial for Gasperini as Atalanta could sack him – the latest

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will face Atalanta in their last home game of the season and it will take place next week. It will be an important game for both sides and also the Bergamo side’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini.

Gasperini has been in charge of Atalanta since 2016 and he has done a tremendous job with the team, leading them to Champions League for example. This season, however, has been tougher as they are currently in 8th place.

In their last five league games, Atalanta have registered one win, two draws and two losses. They certainly aren’t in form and the most recent 1-1 draw against Salernitana only confirmed the crisis for them.

According to Corriere di Bergamo, as cited by MilanNews, Gasperini and his men cannot afford to check out for the season and especially not the manager. In fact, he risks getting axed by the club this summer if things don’t change.

The game against Milan, therefore, will be crucial for the manager and a win for him would at least send a signal to the management.

  1. Oof, typical Italian knee-jerk reaction. After so much success including a CL semi you get fired after one “bad” season.

  2. That is ridiculous. Gasperini has been a savior for that club. 3 straight amazing successful seasons in Serie A and much European football success, Atalanta management would be completely idiotic and stupid to sack him.
