Report: Milan eye Spurs midfielder or €35m Man Utd target to replace Biglia

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are considering two players to replace Lucas Biglia amid doubts over his renewal, according to a report.

A recent report from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested that Biglia is set to become an integral part of Milan’s plans once again due to the appointment of Stefano Pioli as the club’s new head coach.

The Argentine worked with Pioli at Lazio, even becoming their captain after the season in which they finished in third place.

However, Biglia has a deal which expires at the end of the season and earns the second-most out of the current squad in salary terms.

As a result, according to Calciomercatonews.com the idea of Biglia leaving at the end of the season remains a ‘concrete possibility’, despite his agent claiming he has no intentions of leaving.

Should Milan need a replacement, there are two possible options: the first of which is Tottenham’s defensive midfielder Eric Dier.

Dier has made just two appearances in the Premier League so far this season and doesn’t seem to be a big part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

Calciomercato.it even recently proposed the hypothesis of a swap deal involving Dier and Franck Kessie, with the Ivorian also facing an uncertain future at Milan.

The report adds though that the ‘real dream’ of the Rossoneri is Brescia’s Sandro Tonali, linked with Inter, Juventus and Manchester United recently.

The teenager has previously revealed his love for the Diavolo – something Milan hope will help their pursuit – while it was recently reported that his starting asking price is €35m.
