Report: Milan have made €18m bid for Ligue 1 centre-back but Leicester join the race

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have made an offer for Saint-Etienne defender Wesley Fofana but Leicester City have now entered the race, it is claimed.

Although Simon Kjaer has done well since his arrival in January, partnering up with Alessio Romagnoli, Milan are looking for a centre-back on the market.

It is anticipated that the signing would be a more long-term solution, with the likes of Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic among the players most strongly linked with a move to San Siro.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it) have been the Italian outlet who have most frequently reported though that Fofana is also a player on the wish list of Paolo Maldini and the management, with the impressive 19-year-old believed to be attracting interest from a number of clubs.

According to transfer source @meguidec on Twitter, Milan have placed an offer of €18m to try and land Fofana, but Saint-Etienne are holding out for €25m and Leicester are now also in the race.
