Report: Milan sent inquiry but Lazio midfielder rejected – the background

AC Milan need to bolster their midfield ahead of next season amid the departure of Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer. The wish list is long and the Rossoneri have enquired about several names, including Danilo Cataldi.

Cataldi made 29 appearances for Lazio last season and playing mostly in a defensive midfield role, he got just one assist. He recently renewed his contract with the Biancocelest and seemingly has no intention of leaving.

According to the newspaper Il Tempo, as cited by Goal, Milan enquired about Cataldi’s situation recently to see if there was any scope for a negotiation. However, the 28-year-old swiftly denied the approach by saying no thanks. As evidenced by the renewal, he’s very happy at Lazio and has no intention of leaving.

Bennacer will be sidelined with an injury until the end of the season and thus it’s essential for Milan to sign a midfielder this summer. The reality is that they probably need two of them, given Tonali’s departure to Newcastle as well.
