By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have entered the race to sign RB Salzburg sensation Erling Haaland by offering him a huge salary, it is claimed.

The Rossoneri are in desperate need of firepower in January having netted just 16 goals through the first 16 rounds of Serie A action.

Tuttosport claimed on Wednesday morning (via MilanNews.it) that Milan are still awaiting the response of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is their primary target, but that if he were to decline then the club would continue with the youth project and sign a striker under 30.

There is arguably no hotter property in Europe at the moment that Erling Haaland. The 19-year-old has netted 28 goals in 22 appearances for RB Salzburg this season, attracting the interest of a number of Europe’s top clubs.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Milan have entered the sweepstakes by offering the teenager a salary of €5.5m-a-year, which would make him instantly one of the club’s top earners.

An enquiry by Paolo Maldini reportedly led to a huge offer of a five-year contract worth a total of €27.5m in total, with the desire of closing as soon as possibly.

The player’s current valuation is around €30million, with agent Mino Raiola anticipating an auction involving Europe’s elite.

However competition is fierce, as Pedulla adds that Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United are in the running, as are Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and OGC Nice.
