Report: Milan look to disrupt Man Utd’s £51m raid with €25m swoop for Atletico midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could rival Manchester United for the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, according to reports.

We reported earlier on Monday that while the Rossoneri hierarchy are focusing on selling players for the time being, there is still an eye towards more potential signings.

Vito Angele told us that one of the positions that the club are looking to strengthen is central midfield, as the switch to a 4-4-2 system has left the likes of Lucas Paqueta with an uncertain future.

According to calciomercatonews.com, Zvominir Boban and Paolo Maldini could go shopping in Madrid – this time on the red side of the city.

Marcos Llorente has failed to establish himself firmly in the plans of Diego Simeone, having made just three starts all season for Los Rojiblancos.

The 24-year-old could push to leave Atletico this month in order to play continuously, the report adds, and the LaLiga side could accept a sale with the formula of a loan with option to buy set at €25million.

Sportsmole recently reported that Manchester United are eyeing a £51m (€60m) move for Llorente as a possible alternative to Bruno Fernandes.
