Report: Milan, Man Utd miss out as Man City close in on bargain €23m deal for Valencia star

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Valencia star Ferran Torres for a bargain fee, according to a report.

Torres has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in LaLiga as the 20-year-old has amassed six goals and seven assists in 42 appearances so far this season.

He has entered the final year of his contract with Valencia, something which MARCA reported has attracted interest from Milan – who have made an enquiry – as well as Juventus, Napoli, both Manchester clubs and Borussia Dortmund.

According to James Ducker of The Telegraph on Twitter though, it is Manchester City who are ‘almost there’ with a deal, and they will be paying Valencia an initial €23m (£20.9m) with more in add ons.

He adds that it is now ‘likely’ that Torres will become Pep Guardiola’s first summer signing, and Eurosport recently stated that City have agreed personal terms with Torres.
