Report: Milan may be left with ‘regret’ as Chelsea, Villa and Newcastle eye €12m USA star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been joined by a number of Premier League clubs in their pursuit of Wigan Athletic left-back Antonee Robinson, a report claims.

Robinson seemed all set to complete a switch to the Rossoneri on deadline day, even flying over to undergo medical tests before making his way to Casa Milan where new players usually sign their contracts.

However, rumours began to emerge suggesting the move had hit the rocks, and Wigan then released a statement on their official website confirming that Robinson would be staying due to a problem with the physical tests which needed too long to be fixed.

Certain outlets – such as Tuttosport and Di Marzio – have suggested that Milan will try to sign Robinson again in the summer window given the uncertainty over Diego Laxalt’s future at the club.

According to the latest from English outlet Mirror Sport though, the Rossoneri face competition for the £10m-rated (around €12m) defender

The report claims that Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle have made their interest known in the 22-year-old and could launch a bid this summer.

The Mirror add that Wigan ‘have now set a fee for the player and AC Milan could end up regretting the lateness of their move’, with other clubs also interested in addition to the aforementioned trio.
