Report: Milan could offer cash plus outcast for Bologna centre-back

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are looking for a centre-back to strengthen the squad as Alessio Romagnoli is expected to leave. Arthur Theate, who currently plays for Bologna, is one of the low-cost options that has been identified.

After missing out on Sven Botman, who decided to join Newcastle, Milan seem more inclined to opt for a cheaper defensive solution. Francesco Acerbi has been mentioned but he’s not their first choice, which Theate might be though.

According to today’s edition of Il Messaggero, as cited by MilanNews, Milan have set their sights on Theate who had a successful first season with Bologna. In fact, they could offer cash plus Mattia Caldara to get the player.

Caldara has just returned from his loan spell at Venezia and Milan have no intention of keeping him either. By including him in a package deal, they could perhaps avoid a capital loss by valuing him a bit higher. At the age of 22, Theate would be an interesting signing for the Rossoneri.

  1. Caldara? What is he worth now? 2M€? 3? LOL. Let’s see if the Bologna directors are stupid enough to fall for this. 🙂

  2. just keep Caldara & don’t sign Acerbi cz they are similar (good in the air) no wasting money n CB, we’ve enough quality there. Kjaer also injury prone back then, who knows Caldara can do the same..
