Report: Milan owners scared of losing key man for free as Real Madrid and Juventus circle

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s owners Elliott Management are scared of the prospect of losing goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer, a report claims.

Speculation has once again turned to Donnarumma’s future with his deal expiring in 2021, and Calciomercato.com recently reported that the 20-year-old – despite his love for the Rossoneri – cannot put his own sporting ambitions in the background.

They stated that given Milan in their current state not have the potential to compete at high levels, another season like this will have no result other than to push Gigio out.

Now, Calciomercato.it are reporting that talks between agent Mino Raiola and the Milan hierarchy are on stand-by for the time being.

The parties are starting from a distance though: Raiola wants a pay rise for his client from the current €6m-a-year he earns, while the Rossoneri are not willing to do so at present.

There is no shortage of suitors: Juventus are always vigilant, while PSG have been linked and even Real Madrid could make their move as Florentino Perez thinks of the heir to Thibaut Courtois.

Los Blancos would like to exploit the fact that his contract expires at the end of next season to sign him at a lower cost for free, or even negotiate a pre-contract for 2021, a scenario that makes Elliott ‘shiver’.
