Report: Milan star ready to snub Atletico Madrid in favour of new deal – the salary request

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli wishes to sign a new deal with the club but his salary demands make things difficult, a report claims.

Several reports in recent weeks have claimed that the Rossoneri are intent on extending Romagnoli’s current deal, which is set to expire in 2022, amid rumours of interest from top LaLiga clubs and Premier League champions Liverpool.

Milan want to avoid a situation like the one they currently face with Gianluigi Donnarumma, where a star player has a year to run on his deal meaning the club must either find an agreement over a renewal or consider selling to avoid the risk of losing him on a free.

According to transfer source Alessandro Jacobone on Twitter, Romagnoli has given his priority to Milan regarding an extension of his current contract despite interest from Atletico Madrid.

The request of the 25-year-old is €5million-a-year in salary, which is a steep increase from the current €3.5m-a-year plus bonuses that he currently earns.
