Report: Milan to compete with Man City for €46m Leipzig youngster

Premier League champions Manchester City have joined AC Milan in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, a report claims.

The Rossoneri have long been linked with a move for Upamecano with the first round of rumours coming back in 2017, and Gianluca Di Marzio stated towards the end of the summer transfer window that Milan are still interested in the 20-year-old.

Recently, Spanish outlet Don Balon gave an idea of the competition for Upamecano, stating that Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and PSG are all also interested.

Now, a report on MilanNews.it – which cites the ‘British media’ (like to refer to this from The Sun) – claims that Manchester City are in the race to land the 21-year-old.

Upamecano has seven Bundesliga appearances so far this season and it is claimed that – due to the fact his contract expires in 2021 – he could be available for around £40m (€47m).

The MilanNews report claims that Milan have been watching the player for some time and are ready to ‘compete’.
