Reports: Mirante ‘very tempted’ as Spezia initiate talks with Milan – the latest

By Isak Möller -

Spezia are keen on bringing in a goalkeeper this month to solve their crisis in that position and Antonio Mirante has ended up in their sights. Talks have thus been opened with AC Milan, a report claims.

Mirante arrived as a free agent at Milan in the middle of last season, due to another Mike Maignan injury, but the playing time has since been scarce. The 39-year-old could thus seek a new adventure, in spite of his age.

According to SerieANews.com, Spezia have initiated talks with Milan to probe the ground for a move. This has been made possible by the fact that the Rossoneri recently secured the arrival of the 24-year-old goalkeeper Devis Vasquez.

And as a result of that signing, Mirante himself has also been forced to reevaluate his position and it remains to be seen if he will open up to the Spezia idea. Per the report, he seems very tempted. If so, the negotiations could reach a conclusion quickly.

MilanNews have now also confirmed the contacts.
