Report names Milan, Liverpool and Arsenal as being admirers of PSV midfield sensation

AC Milan are one of three clubs that have been credited with an interest in signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Xavi Simons by a source in Spain.

Simons has become one of the sensations of European football at the start of the season as his performances at PSV continue to go from strength to strength, with the midfielder playing a key role in their victory over Arsenal in the Europa League last night.

Not only that but it is almost certain Simons will be part of the Netherlands squad for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and Fichajes.net report that he is in the sights of three top European clubs in view of the coming transfer windows.

Arsenal have been impressed with the performance of the former PSG man in the two games in which they faced PSV in the Europa League. Mikel Arteta sees him as an ideal profile to enhance the playmaker position and add quality.

Liverpool are also keen because Jürgen Klopp is a fan of his game due to his ability to move the ball forward quickly thanks to his excellent technical ability and could compliment the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.

Finally, Milan are also looking for a creative profile for the midfield to add to the likes of Rafael Leao, Charles De Ketelaere and Brahim Díaz. The 19-year-old Simons is a profile that can contribute in both phases of the game and he perfectly aligns with Milan’s youth project.

Simons and Gakpo have been the two leading lights in an exciting PSV team, and the former – who can play as a playmaker or a right winger – has 10 goals and 4 assists in 19 appearances across all competitions so far in 2022-23.
