Massimiliano Allegri is just one step away from becoming the new head coach of Napoli, but according to a report, Gerry Cardinale continues to put the matter on hold.
Allegri was relieved of his duties as the head coach of Milan at the end of the season, failing to clinch the Champions League qualification that was the main target. However, despite not delivering, the 58-year-old asked for a severance package to terminate the deal.

It’s something that Cardinale wasn’t having any of, suggesting that Allegri already had a deal in place with Napoli before the season ended. As such, that would make him ineligible for a severance package, but the manager isn’t on the same wavelength.
Frustration grows
According to today’s edition of Il Mattino (via MilanPress), there were initially talks between the parties to try to reach an agreement. However, in the last days, Cardinale hasn’t even responded to the entourage and lawyers of Allegri.
This even prompted the Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, to call Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The two could even meet in the United States in the coming days. Either way, the Partenopei are becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation.
Of course, Allegri could just terminate the deal without a severance package and get to work at Napoli…

I don’t like Allegri but I always thought of him as a highly professional person. The fact that he talked to them before the end of the season is a very bad look.
Is a severence package in his contract? No, he has another year on his contract and can earn money for doing nothing. No money for Allegri or have Napoli pay what he wants!!!!!
Mr Allegri, you should be ashamed of yourself
He shouldnt even get severance for several reasons.
1. You had an agreement with napoli in the season
2. You play a horrible game
3. Lost millions for making fans fall asleep every match
Good on cardinale to play hardball with him. Make napoli wait longer so they cant prepare and get started and let him give up his severance. My biggest regret was ever thinking allegri was someone we needed at the time. That was the hardest season to date for me.
