AC Milan have begun talks over the renewal of Hakan Calhanoglu but there is quite a distance between the parties at present, a report claims.
Calhanoglu has been involved in 17 goals (8 goals + 9 assists) in his last 12 games for Milan across all competitions, showing his importance to the team and to Pioli’s system.
Sky Italia (via MilanNews) reported on Wednesday that Calhanoglu has certain career objectives like playing in the Champions League as a protagonist, and there are teams interested in signing him as a free agent like Juventus and Atletico Madrid given that his renewal will not be easy.
According to Nicolo Schira on Twitter, Milan opened talks to extend Calhanoglu’s contract until 2024 two weeks ago, offering a deal worth €3m per season net.
The first bid has been rejected by his agent, who asked more (€5m/year). New talks and a new meeting in the next few weeks will occur to try reach an agreement.
