Report: Verona wish to extend loan of Atalanta midfielder as Milan continue to lurk

By Isak Möller -

Milan will start their pre-season on August 24 and the management is currently working to reinforce the squad. Among other things, they need to increase the depth in the midfield department.

Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie played almost all of the games from start in Stefano Pioli’s midfield tandem, without getting much rest. Of course, this is something that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to fix ahead of the upcoming season.

According to Corriere di Verona (via MilanNews.it), Matteo Pessina could end up at back Milan. Hellas Verona are working hard to extend the loan of the midfielder, who impressed this past season, currently negotiating with Atalanta about the matter.

However, Milan are lurking in the background and since they have the 50% future resale clause, they can get the 23-year-old at half the price. That being said, he’s more of an attacking midfielder – he scored seven goals in the 2019/20 season.
