Reports: Aston Villa face tough competition as Valencia initiate talks with Milan outcast

By Isak Möller -

Among the players expected to leave Milan this summer, we find the Pepe Reina. The goalkeeper has returned to the Rossoneri after the six-month loan at Aston Villa, but it doesn’t look like he will stay.

In recent weeks, the 37-year-old has been linked with several clubs, including Aston Villa. As reported by Alessandro Jacobone on Twitter, the English side is keen on keeping him for next season and thus continue the successful partnership.

According to MilanNews.it, however, Villa are facing competition from a Spanish club, namely Valencia. There is an ongoing dialogue between them and Reina to find an economic agreement, but that isn’t the only hurdle.

Closing in on retirement, Reina has no intention of experiencing his last few years on the bench. He wants a spot in the starting eleven and this is being discussed by the parties. Nevertheless, his Milan adventure will seemingly come to an end.
