Reports: De Ketelaere ready to make a Tonali-esque sacrifice to facilitate Milan move

Charles De Ketelaere is willing to make a personal economic sacrifice in order to facilitate his move from Club Brugge to AC Milan, a report claims.

Sportitalia (via MilanLive) are reporting that De Ketelaere has expressed a willingness to lower his salary compared to what he has been offered by Milan in order to help push things through, and Radio Rossonera confirm this news. Milan offered a deal worth €2.7m net per season and the 21-year-old would agree to earn around €2.2m.

It is move that shows how much the Belgium international wants to join the Rossoneri and it must be remembered that Sandro Tonali also did the same thing in the summer of 2021 to facilitate his permanent move from Brescia to Milan.  De Ketelaere wants to take the next step in his and he already said no to other interest from teams like Leeds United.

What does taking a pay cut mean? It has been reported that Milan were anywhere from €3-5m short in their offer to Brugge, so if De Ketelaere went from a €2.7m net salary over five years (€13.5m) to €2.2m (€11m) then it lowers the overall cost of the operation.
