Santiago Gimenez was one of the first-team players who featured in the in-house friendly earlier today, and according to reports, he did well.

This morning, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that there would be an in-house clash between the first team and the Futuro. Sure enough, the two teams trained together today and also had a game, which featured six first-team players.

In other words, some of the Futuro players got to take the step up to the first team, while a few Primavera players made the step up to the Futuro. Anyway, it was an important friendly especially for Santiago Gimenez, who is doing everything to regain match fitness.

50 minutes of high intensity

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, it was a friendly with a twist as it only lasted for 45-50 minutes. On the other hand, as added by Carlo Pellegatti, it was a session with quite a high workload and intensity. It’s not like it was just for fun, in other words.

Pellegatti also said in his video that Gimenez ‘did well’ in the friendly, which is nice to hear ahead of the Napoli clash, but important indications will also arrive tomorrow. Indeed, to see how his body responds to playing a decent chunk is a very important part.

It remains to be seen how Allegri will approach his playing time in the coming weeks, but what’s clear is that Gimenez is making great progress.
