Reports: How much Atalanta will pay Milan for the loan of De Ketelaere

By Isak Möller -

Charles De Ketelaere is just one step away from packing his bags and joining the nearby league rivals Atalanta. An agreement has been reached between the latter and AC Milan for a loan with an option to buy, reports claims.

De Ketelaere arrived for just over €35m last summer and this price tag came with high expectations, as you would expect. He failed to live up to the hype, though, and Milan opened to the sale already at the start of this summer.

As reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below), an agreement has been reached between Milan and Atalanta with the following formula: a paid loan worth around €6m with an option to buy. Only the player’s yes is missing.

Daniele Longo has added that the loan should cost Atalanta €5-6m and they will also cover De Ketelaere’s entire salary of €2.2m net. There should not be a buy-back clause, as confirmed by both of the above sources.

Anto Vitiello, on the other hand, claims that the paid loan will be worth merely €3m and that the buy-out clause will be set at €23m. In the coming hours, more details should surface on the matter.

Update: All credible sources are now saying €3m loan plus €23m buy-out clause.

  1. Fair deal. Hopefully there is a buyback clause, but even if there was I doubt we would exercise it in the end. CDK was not a good fit for this team and his attitude was bad.

  2. Matteo Moretto who’s by far our most reliable source has said 3M unfortunately even though I was hoping for something like 6M

  3. We are so gonna regret this. Pulisic is gonna be injured at least 30% of the season and we are gonna have to see how CDK is crushing it at Atalanta. At least we should include a % of a future sale by Atalanta.

    1. With this new milan 433,cdk is useless(not needed), and even in 4231,if pusilic get injured, romeo or reinjers will fill the gap or switch bak to 433 where am will not be needed
The guy need a tough coach not this pioli that cannot voice out for player

    2. Okafor or Romero. Crushing it? You make it sound like every player going to Atalanta is a success. He had a lot of playing time and showed so little.

    3. If he’s “crushing it” at Atalanta then good for him. Sometimes a player just isn’t a good fit with a particular team. It’s happened many times before all over the place. Can’t cry about a square peg that doesn’t fit in a round hole.

  4. The 3 mil paid loan with 23 mil buy option and covering his 2 mil wages will be a total cost of 28 mil which is what Milan are looking for from him. So fair deal to Milan. Obligation would have been better for Milan but if you want to consider both sides then this is fairer. Hopefully he does much better there.

  5. Should have include buy back clause. But even if Atalanta exercise the buy-out clause, CDK can still reject the contract offer if he want to play for Milan again.

  6. I tire oooo
The guy is just lazy on his own
I pray this deal materialize and see the outcome of ur almighty cdk
May u re seein Kelvin de-bryne in him rit?

  7. I’m afraid he’ll be back with the team for next summer training. As far as the deal we got something.
That kid couldn’t handle the pressure of big teams. Good luck to him.
