Reports: Ibrahimovic and Milan pull the plug on Camarda’s move to Monza

Francesco Camarda seemed destined to join Monza on an 18-month loan this morning, but the negotiations have now collapsed. According to multiple reports, AC Milan decided to pull the plug at the last second.

After securing the services of Santiago Gimenez, who’s currently on a plane to Milano, Milan appeared willing to let their wonderkid Camarda leave on loan. Adriano Galliani and Monza immediately jumped on the matter and were close to a total agreement this morning.

However, as first reported by Gianluca Di Marzio this evening, Milan have decided to pull the plug on the deal. As added by MilanNews, it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who made the decision as he was unwilling to part ways with the 16-year-old.

Of course, playing time will not really be a problem for Camarda as he can play for the first team, the Futuro side and the Primavera. It remains to be seen what his role will be with the first team for the remainder of the season, but clearly Milan feel he will have space.

It should also be noted that Monza are struggling at the bottom of the Serie A standings, so perhaps it wouldn’t have been the right move for Camarda.

  1. Honestly I see this. I don’t think we’ve benefited from sending young players to shit teams and maybe selling Maldini on to Atalanta no less bristled management too much. Monza seems doomed for sure now

  2. I am not in the football business, so maybe I am missing something here, but I find it mind-boggling that the same people who brought the likes of Morata and Emerson are able to keep their jobs without any accountability whatsoever. Seems like the approach is “You made a multimillion euro mistake. Oh well, carry on”.

    1. They’ll be held to account at the end of the season. It’s too difficult to replace directors mid-season. Moncada’s contract expires in the summer and most of the mistakes are on him so he should go.

    2. Wait until the end of the season, you will see for sure a couple of heads spinning down the hill, perhaps this moment is not the correct one to do so

    3. Should let him leave on a dry loan so he can develop in peace without any expectations and actually get playing time. Sitting the bench does nothing for this kid nor does playing in the Futuro

  3. “Of course, playing time will not really be a problem for Camarda as he can play for the first team, the Futuro side and the Primavera”
So he plays for neither. When he trains with the first team he needs to be available for the first team. Often the matches for the three groups are in the same day or with a day difference from one another and the coaches often don’t want a player who hasn’t trained with the team to play.

  4. Strange! Was it not because Abate preferred camarda over his son, that got Abate fired? Why should Ibra suddenly care about his “professional” development now?

Camarda’s physical development to play with the bigger, physically superior players in Serie A should be monitored closely.

Monza might give him more playing time than Milan would give him, except the goon at the top decide that he would be second choice striker, which i doubt.

  5. A smart move. I was not too happy with the decision of letting him go on loan, since the beginning. That’s really the best solution, both for him and the club, he must play as an understudy of Santi Gimenez.
