Reports: Ibrahimovic’s return to Milan will be announced today – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to AC Milan will be announced today after weeks of speculation regarding his comeback and what role he might occupy.

As reported by MilanNews and Fabrizio Romano, the official announcement of Ibrahimovic’s return as a close collaborator of Gerry Cardinale will arrive today, and it is quite a vague role with precise tasks that still need to be defined.

What will Ibra do? What will he deal with on a daily basis? What kind of contacts will he have with the coach and the team? All questions, especially this last one, which will be answered in the next few hours.

The official press release will arrive in the afternoon and it should provide various answers but the starting point is an important one, and that is that Zlatan has decided to come back for a third spell and this time not as a player.

His love affair with Milan began in the summer of 2010 when Adriano Galliani signed him on an initial loan from Barcelona that became permanent, then in December 2019 he returned to aid a struggling group at the age of 38 and was part of an upward journey.

Some argue Ibra’s return was the foundation for building the Rossoneri’s recent successes: a return to Europe, a return to the Champions League, a Scudetto and a Champions League semi-final.

  1. Let’s see how this will turn out to be. No complaints though, bringing him would be advantageous for the team, but I don’t see how these guys who didn’t even get along with a gentleman like Maldini would be able to handle someone as outspoken as Ibra. Hope it turns out good.

  2. This is the only acceptable solution if we’re to endure Pioli until the summer. Zlatan will motivate the players to perform. No more slacking, FFS.

  3. let’s see how it would pounce out, but one thing that I know is that this current Milan management has no ambition.
