Reports: Kalulu closer to Juventus decision after new talks – the situation

Juventus are pushing Pierre Kalulu for an answer regarding a move there and talks are continuing with his entourage with an answer expected soon, it is claimed.

As we reported exclusively a few days ago, it appeared as though Kalulu’s move to Juventus would be pushed through very quickly after talks accelerated at a rapid rate, and then before the weekend there was a slowdown in the negotiations which was down to the player himself.

The former Lyon man asked for time to ensure that it was the right move to make, and La Gazzetta dello Sport even claimed this morning that he wants a clean break with Milan if he were to leave, i.e. a permanent move rather than a loan with option.

According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are ‘pushing in their talks to sign Kalulu’ as discussions continue with all parties involved. The Old Lady are ‘insisting on final decision as soon as possible’, with contacts ongoing again today.

Meanwhile, Matteo Moretto of Relevo is reporting that in the past few hours there have been new direct discussions between Juventus and Kalulu to unblock the negotiations, and that the French defender is ‘now closer to a full agreement’ with the Bianconeri.

Milan and Paulo Fonseca made their attitude towards things clear by excluding the centre-back from the squad for the Torino game on Saturday night.

  1. get Chiesa and Locatelli, give them Thiaw instead. will score so many auto-goals for Motta, they will miss UCL.

sell Jovic, I had my doubts which proved right vs Torino.

switch Saelemakers as LW and Okafor as ST.

PS before the whole mediocre Locatelli comments, literally name a reason and not a copy-paste comments that tend to spread in this forum

    1. Good idea to bring back Locatelli he can either registered in homegrown player, or In case of Pobega departure put in the academy grown footballer, but you know too italian for the managers

    2. For me it’s not so much mediocre as it’s reheated soup. Locatelli started with us, and at that time he seemed destined to be a good midfielder. But he had no patience and pushed to be sold to Sassuolo and then pushed them to be sold to Juventus. Now he can live with his choices. He might have been with us the whole time.

  2. Well Milan is team under construction year by year.

You can tell that all players left who didn’t upgrade play, year by year.

This season defence is Tomori Gabbia Pavlovic Thiaw.

Is it good? Who knows. But one is sure. If they don’t upgrade play – next season we can expect new sales and new players in arrive.
Kalulu wasn’t our best player. Thiaw is not also. And Tomori is well amortised that any future sale is capital gain.

  3. We have a decent CB who can play RB too (more flexible), and did great before he was marred by injury; he’s not injury-prone because before the injury he was healthy all the time. Injuries do happen, but he’s a good player. His name is Pierre Kalulu.

We have a HORRIBLE player who cost us points with alarming frequency and keeps committing the most horrible amateur-hour blunders. He can only play (terribly) CB so he is not flexible. His name is Malick Thiaw.

Can someone please explain to me why Kalulu is not in Fonseca’s plan, but Thiaw is??? I really don’t understand it. Kalulu is clearly better than Thiaw; by very far. And by the way, Gabbia is also clearly better than Thiaw. What the hell are we doing, keeping Thiaw but pushing out Kalulu (who is also a true Milanista and a very nice guy)???

    1. Most likely he wants tall, strong dudes at CB. Kalulu is on the shorter side. But Thiaw is horrendous with the ball, always makes dumb mistakes…

Jovic, I think is also not up to the standards. RLC in double pivot as seen is quite out of position.

    2. Thiaw, last 2 seasons before injury, was highly rated by the coaches and even earn senior Germany NT call up. He is 23. He is not good enough right now, should not start any game before he improve.

Kalulu is older at 24. Come back from 2 horrendous season after scudetto. 22/23 he was playing so badly he lost his starting position to Thiaw, he missed the game due to injury for only 7 games.
Last season he wasnt good either, got injured everytime. Missed 24 matches and never recovered any kind of form.
Fonseca dont play him at RB at all during friendlies despite talked about it. Safe to say the experiment is failed and he cant convince Fonseca to play as RB.
Also he come to us at 21. Where is this “true Milanista” comment comes… Origi and Ballo Toure also dont want to leave the club. Are they also true Milanista?

      1. OK good points; you did change my view of this situation. Still, while now I think from your points that it makes more sense to let Kalulu go, I still don’t see what sense there is in keeping Thiaw. I’d try to at least loan him out. Gabbia is much better than Thiaw. For depth in case of an injury crisis? Is it wise depth to play a player who commits silly PKs and own goals and constantly leaves his man unmarked? I’d rather see Theo again improvised as CB in an injury crisis situation, than Thiaw. I know, then the lack of a suitable deputy for Theo would hurt too, but in a crisis having Bartesaghi as LB and Theo covering CB although far from ideal is less bad than playing Thiaw, who is arguably the player who has been individually responsible for the largest number of dropped points. It’s like the saying, “better alone than in bad company.” In case of injury crises, better a non-specialist improvised CB than a CB who is proven to be horrible and to commit frequent blunders that result in goals conceded to the opponents.

    3. He tested Kalulu in pre season. Probably it’s because of the progressive play that lack from Kalulu. He does tend to play back pass too many often. Thiaw have better vision because he was ex-midfielder. This has been long in the play because we were chasing Royal from the start of the window.
Now Milan has Thiaw, Tomori, Pav, Gabbia, and potentially Theo and Bartesaghi. So in number, at the very least, we are covered.

      1. Yes Fonseca use Kalulu at pre season but almost exclusively as CB. At least I dont remember him being played at RB on the friendlies.

  4. Personally do not mind letting Kalulu go. We’re already packed as we are on the RB and CB dept. The only problem is that he’ll leave in loan with option to buy scenario. Not really an ideal situation as we’ll have no control on our own player.
