Reports: Length of contract and how much Alvaro Morata should earn at Milan

By Isak Möller -

Alvaro Morata is one step away from joining AC Milan, with only his final go-ahead needed, and it’s believed that it will arrive immediately after the Euro 2024 final. According to multiple reports, he will get a decent salary as well.

Gazzetta dello Sport stated this morning that Morata has asked for a salary of €5m per year with a four-year contract. Milan, meanwhile, have offered a three-year deal worth €4m per year but it’s expected that the parties will reach a compromise.

Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, reports that the salary should be about €5m per year but with a three-year deal instead of four years. DAZN, on the other hand, are reporting that it will be a three-year deal worth €6m including all of the bonuses.

Milan fans can be fairly confident that the contract will be worth around €5m per year, in the end, and there might be some bonuses that could increase that. In any case, with a transfer fee of just €13m, the Rossoneri are willing to give a slightly higher salary as the overall cost won’t be too bad.

It remains to be seen if a final answer will arrive on Monday, from Morata that is, but it certainly seems like it will be the case.

    1. Perhaps, the thought is that Camarda is the future striker? Learn from Morata and Zlatan; in a couple of years, he can lead the line. He’s still only 16 but shows great promise. Why sign someone who will block his path if management has faith in Francesco’s abilities?

      1. I mean we’re just kicking the can down the road with these experienced strikers. There’s no reason to think Camarda couldn’t develop next to Morata and another younger striker.

  1. All this list of strikers Milan listed, J David, Sesko, Zirkzee, Lukaku, Abraham, Gimenez & many more so Milan will endup buying Morata? Honestly, I’m disappointed in Milan. How can Milan win league title with Morata? Oh shit

    1. How could Milan won the title with a 40yo ibra and grandpa Giroud?

As long as the wingers provide we wil be fine offensively looking. And everyone knows a strong defense wins titles not a strong attack

      1. Don’t bother with him. I made the same point to him yesterday, when he made the same take with a reply.

Some users come on here just to “see” themselves talk. Most of the time its so irrelevant.

    2. From all strikers from your list Morata provides best quality/price ratio, whether we like it or not. He is in good form and still good age for a striker, so for 2-3 years and for that price this is a really good deal. But they should start thinking about younger replacement.

  2. I think ACM want to prepare camarda ready to take starting spot at 3-4 years later so they target old striker like lukaku or morata . Age 16 camarda in milan futuro , age 17 enter senior team as morata back up and become starter at age 19 after morata contract expire. With this camarda can learn from experience striker

  3. I know it’s a long shot but after the statement that they want a striker who can work in tight spaces how do we not go all out for someone like Julian alvarez. He isn’t a starter at city and he is a fantastic player. Should go all out for him. I don’t mind Morata but he’s also 31 and he’s not somebody who will bring you 20 goals in the league.

  4. I am not 100% satisfied with the choice, bit I am not disappointed at all. Milan in last decade tend to have good results with aging striker. Yes they are not >20 goals per season, but at least Ibra and Giroud performed much better than “young with potential” or “good at other league” strikers Milan purchased during those times, such as Andre Silva, Piatek or Bacca, which costed not cheap.
And we cant say Morata as reject-grade, he is still the main striker and captain of national team advancing to final of Euro 2024, while Zirkzee for instance, cant take Depay or Weghorst’s place in national team.
“Yeah, but Morata is not tbat good in Euro”. For me, when Jerry is still owning Milan, I would never dream he would buy 50+ M strikers, unless he is 100% sure he can sell the player anytime he needs to the following season for 100+ M.

  5. I mean he’s the starting striker for Spain? Morata is a good player, there’s probably minimal upside but you can’t be too upset if we get him. Better him than Lukaku or some of the other options, and Camarda is coming soon. And Morata did actually have the best season of his career this year, 21 goals in all competitions. I bet he scores more goals than Zirkzee. It’s not sexy or flashy but I’m good with it.
