Reports: Man Utd still want €40m-rated Milan star; Chelsea’s stance revealed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek is still wanted by Premier League giants Manchester United, according to a report.

Calciomercato.it recently claimed that Barcelona want Piatek to replace Luis Suarez, while Pianeta Milan suggested earlier in the month that United are also keen on a move.

The Poland international has struggled to start the season, continuing his dry spell from the end of the last campaign. He has just one from open play in his last 13 competitive games for Milan.

According to the Daily Telegraph though – as cited by Calciomercato.com – Piatek is still attracting interest from the Red Devils, as well as Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic.

Il Corriere dello Sport recently placed Piatek’s valuation as somewhere in the €40-50m range, having arrived from Genoa for €35m in January.

Meanwhile, a report on the same website claims that Chelsea have now ended their pursuit of Piatek, who they had been following for some time.

Instead, they want to focus on England international striker Tammy Abraham, who has eight goals in eight Premier League matches so far this season.
