By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Sampdoria are both in the running to sign Fernando Llorente from Napoli in January, according to reports.

According to Calciomercato.com, Samp have been following Llorente for weeks and the Spaniard is the man that Claudio Ranieri wants to replenish his attack, having already pursued him in the summer, without success.

The report cites Spanish newspaper AS who report that Milan are also chasing Llorente, with the former Athletic Bilbao man a possibly option take up a role as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s deputy. The Rossoneri’s inclusion could complicate Sampdoria’s plans because they can offer him a better salary.

Meanwhile, journalist Ekrem Konur is reporting that Sampdoria and Milan have both been in contact with Llorente. Neither team wants to pay Napoli a transfer fee for Llorente, and he adds that the player was offered a per-match fee by Sampdoria.
