Reports: Milan confident of closing deal for Strasbourg star as Chelsea’s stance is explained

By Oliver Fisher -

Reports have emerged suggesting that AC Milan are in pole position to land Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan and they are confident of doing so.

It is seemingly no secret now that Milan have made Simakan their number one target for the January window as they look to reinforce a centre-back department which has been hit hard by injuries already so far this season.

According to Sebastian Denis of FootMercato, Simakan is well followed by Chelsea but the English club – which has a lot of players in their sights in this position – have no plans to move for him this winter. Milan are still in pole position to land the defender.

Meanwhile, according to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com on Twitter, Milan are confident they can close the deal for Simakan. Therefore, everything seems to point towards the young defender being the first addition of the winter market.
