Reports: Milan target Fenerbahce wonderkid with €17.5m release clause

AC Milan have shifted their focus on the mercato, following the departure of Paolo Maldini, with chief scout Geoffrey Moncada now leading the line. One of the talents on his radar is Arda Güler, reports claim.

Güleris just 18 years old but has already made 51 appearances for the first team of Fenerbahce, finding the back of the net 9 times and assisting an additional 12 goals. Most of these came this past season, which was a successful one for him.

According to Daniele Longo and MilanNews, Milan are following the attacking midfielder (who can also play on the right) with great interest. Güler also has a release clause of €17.5, which is a figure that falls within the Rossoneri’s parameters.

For now, though, Güler remains just a target but Milan could potentially accelerate their interest in the coming weeks. Given that he’s able to play both in the centre and on the right, being left-footed, he could solve a lot for the Rossoneri.

        1. thats the only thing Milan has going for them. they can promise game time and deliver. Which i approve. buy them young and let them play

          1. Lol, as if Pioli will include a new player in squad. As long as Messias, Krunic are available, it’s difficult for a new player to get playing time.

  1. common free transfer is difficult for Milan to complete let alone 18yr with 17.5m release clause. with stupid moneyball policy the offer will not exceed 8m

  2. If AC Milan can get this guy,we are made for the next 15 years plus in the final third cause this guy is unplayable, believe me when I say that.

  3. This guy has an intimidating profile. I Just checked his it. I now understand what @ OwenDeeRed is trying to say.
    we should get him ASAP

    1. Get both. One is primarily an RW who can play in the middle and the other is a CAM who can play on the right. Romero is a free agent so zero spend, and we should offer Adli + 10m to see if Fener is willing to accept that as meeting the buyout clause. If so we solve two problems in one (moving Adli and getting Guler for a reduced price).

  4. Because of that release clause now the competition only in salary term and playing time. Guler or luka romero ? Both are wonderkid

  5. Of course Milan can sign a player like this boys, if the board deems him gifted enough to be a good deal for the team.

BTW, this kind of moronic fans, who suffers from a cosmic, eternal and incurable pessimism, really piss me off on a level that you guys can’t conceive of, holy sh***it.

    1. Milan aren’t going to be able to compete with Arsenal or Newcastle or Barcelona for salary though; the only thing we can offer over them is a likelihood of more playing time.

On paper, he’d be perfect for us – attacking midfielder who’s left-footed would slot right in – would love to see it happen but won’t hold my breath.

  6. The Turkish league is a joke. Would you pay this money for kids with the same stats in Serie B? 17.5 million is still a hefty gamble for him. He is half of our transfer budget. The problem isn’t the price, it is the going rate for a player with those prospects. Put in perspective, CDK did better than him, is more developed, was more dominant, in arguably an equally difficult league, with more balanced competition and will need a season or two to adapt. You want to put that pressure on an 18 year old? 50% of the budget to address pressing needs with a prospect? This is AC Milan. Our relegation teams can beat their top 5 clubs.

      1. I agree, CDK had one bad season after a spectacular one, and solid ones before, more than this kid and now he is as good as chopped liver, considered as a “flop” or “mistake”.

To me, 17.5 million for a high potential young player is fine, it is fair market. Not when it is half your transfer budget for a season though. Rather spend 40 on a sure thing and get as many frees as possible to plug holes until we get three seasons of solid players. Let’s be honest, 40 to 50 a year won’t do much to increase the quality of the team without it costing us points and CL spots. If we want to be the Sevilla of Serie A and compete for Europa League then sure. Let’s sign him. Our last director got fired for doing that though so…what is it going to be, youth and development ? or immediate results? We cant be halfway between with these budgets. Gotta hit hard and fast if the latter is under consideration

        1. Just like Leao and Tonali, CDK should not be judged by his debut season, especially as he was being played out of position. At Brugge, CDK was used as SS who play on right and left during the game, using him centrally at AM was a mistake. Leao was used as forward his first season at Milan and he had difficulty but it was resolved when he moved to LW, I believe CDK should be moved to RW. Last summer, before CDK officially become Milan player, I already said he should be used as RW (I wanted Adli at AM).

          1. Pioli wasn’t fair, where Krunic was always played and tried in various positions, but CDK, especially Adil, didn’t get that chance.

    1. well, buy him and let him develop in fener for a year or two. Like real did with Diaz for example.
Ofc that does not solve the ‘no AM’ problem for Milan unless CDK starts balling. Kamada still hasnt signed..

    2. “The Turkish league is a joke.”

Whaaaat??? So you’re saying Borini (one of the leading scorers there) isn’t actually a world-class striker after all??? :O :O

  7. No More Turkish, Belgian, Players in the Belgian league or Spanish players.

They all end up average to poor at Milan. Anywhere else they’ll star.

    Milan, flop.

    1. Cannot doing that if release clause. But we can sell salad 15m euro & junior 2,5m euro to fund this. That will make AC Milan must buy one more RW maybe orsolini

      1. If his club thinks that the offer match their demanding, they can always accept it qnd ignore the release clause. It meant to tie the player and the future buyer, not them.
It is down to the buyer’s ability to negotiate the price. But of course the release clause can only be triggered by that fixed amount.

  8. Stop this nonsense, he’s a good player but we will not spend that high for a kid, we dont have money to buy anyone.
