Victor Boniface’s move to AC Milan hangs in the balance, amid doubts about his knee, and the loan fee could be renegotiated with Bayer Leverkusen as a result.
Boniface’s (potential) move to Milan has caused quite the stir in the media. Understandably so, as the striker underwent additional medical tests earlier today, with the Rossoneri looking to get a better understanding of his right knee (due to a previous ACL tear).

Igli Tare and his colleagues are yet to make a decision on the Nigerian international, and they might not do so until Monday, but there’s also another possibility. According to Gazzetta dello Sport and Daniele Longo, the terms could be renegotiated.
New terms on the cards?
Milan and Leverkusen reached an agreement for a €5m loan with an option to buy at €24m a few days ago. However, given the new information the Rossoneri have about Boniface’s knee, €5m is a rather high fee that could be spent on someone else.
As such, according to the aforementioned sources, it’s possible that the clubs could lower the loan fee quite a lot or even remove it completely. The salary would still have to be paid, so he there will be a cost, but at least it would be reduced a lot.
Milan are also keeping their eyes on some other targets, including Dusan Vlahovic, while negotiations for Sporting Lisbon’s Conrad Harder are unrelated to Boniface.

With all this saga I can’t believe we’re seriously trying to freeze our Gimenez. Give the boy a chance he showed an eye for goal, hes no Origi or Luiz Adriano.
Hopefully Boniface joins even as an injury risk, to provide cover. If not, then maybe Hojland or Harder. But Gimenez should be given a full season before discarding.
Surely a fee based on appearances would be a fair compromise
Wouldn’t doubt he may have injury concerns, but also wouldn’t put it past this management to try and find a way to lower his price tag even further
Injury concerns = knee worse than Ibrahimovics in retirement.
So it’s about the money and not whether he’s capable of finishing season without crutches? Typical RedBird.
Of course it’s about money. If his knee is dodgy don’t want to pay VB and Bayer for him spend bulk of year in the medical bay. And he’s gone a month w AFCON. Further risks for injury and time away from the team. Consider history both Chuk and Isma suffering injuries there.
I have a feeling he isn’t going to sign which is a shame. If it’s just a loan, why not sign him to see how he is. He’s the best that we’ve been linked with and we’re willing to go and spend close to 30m on harder who nobody has heard of. Mights as well buy a top striker for 40-50m and not get either and keep gimenez if that’s the case
Bonerface can’t save us
10-15M player. Can’t stay fit but would be a spectacular backup. However not for Milan, too high wages for a Milan backup.
