Reports: Milan line up €25m Serie A defender as Saint-Etienne demand €40m for Fofana

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are finding their pursuit of Saint-Etienne defender Wesley Fofana difficult and could move on to another target, reports claim.

With Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte all currently unavailable for selection, the management must act swiftly to reinforce a department that is one injury away from being in complete crisis, with Matteo Gabbia and Simon Kjaer the only healthy options at present.

According to Anto Vitiello of MilanNews, Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com and Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are now looking for a new central defender after the sale of Paqueta to Lyon.

As for Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana, hopes are now very low given the €40m evaluation that Saint-Etienne have placed upon him. Even with Paqueta’s exit, that amount is impracticable at the moment for Milan.

However, the three sources agree that interest in Takehiro Tomiyasu of Bologna remains alive and there have already been contacts with the Rossoblu.

Di Marzio talks about a price tag of €25m for the Japan international, who is second place in the list of preferred targets for the Milan management, with other solutions also being ignored.
