Reports: Milan refusing to give up on Fofana with third signing now secured

Having secured the services of Emerson Royal, and with the season opener around the corner, AC Milan will now have to focus on the midfield. Youssouf Fofana is the No.1 target and as per various outlets, the Rossoneri have not given up.

Geoffrey Moncada and his colleagues are working on reinforcing the team, having made three signings so far. However, the midfield was one of the priorities heading into the summer and the Rossoneri are yet to reinforce that department.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Milan haven’t given up on Youssouf Fofana despite the complicated negotiations with Monaco. The French side are still asking for €30m, helped by Man Utd’s interest, but Moncada still believes in the discount.

The alternatives, as the newspaper concludes, are Manu Kone (Monchengladbach) and Johnny Cardoso (Real Betis). Tuttosport adds (via MilanNews) that Milan can focus fully on the midfield now that an agreement has been reached for Emerson Royal, refusing to give up on Fofana.

It remains to be seen if Milan can reach a positive conclusion in the negotiations. What is certain, however, is that the season opener will take place one week from now. As such, one could argue that this is a failure by the management.

    1. Bro, Moncada finds a talent, Furlani and Cardinale approve the budget and Moncada negotiate based on what is given to him. Don’t blame Moncada for finance

    2. It’s not Moncada per se – it’s Redbird – and Fulani – who is told by Redbird what we can and cannot spend on a player.

HOWEVER – Moncada is NOT without blame. the mistake by Moncada was not making a strong offer (20M plus 10% resale) at the very BEGINING of the negotiation and BEFORE other teams like Man U or West Ham jumped in and boosted the price. That was a MISTAKE. It was also a MISTAKE for Moncada not to approach Monaco first and just negotiate with the player. OF he had such a great relationship w Monca from having worked there in the past – he should have approached Monaco and worked out a deal. He didn’t and their Billionaire owner (who doesn’t need the $) got upset – so we are in the drawn out mess.

We cannot spend more than a 20M (excluding add ons) BASE transfer fee on ANY player.

Look at all the players we signed the last few seasons since Redbird took over. All under 20M base transfer fee: RLC (16), Musah (20), Reindjers (14), Pulisic (20); Pavlovic (20) Emerson (15) Morra’s (13), Chukuweze (20); Okafor (14); Terracino (5); etc…..NOBODY over 20M BASE transfer fee. CDK (32) was done before Redbird took over.

This will NOT change. Links to a players like Zirkzee, David, etc…who all cost over 20M were just PR stunts. Was never going to happen, always find an excuse not to go through with the transfer.

So it is our wonderful OWNERSHIP who won’t provide the necessary $$ to make a transfer purchase over 20M. Which is why we are constantly haggling over price and constantly lose out on players.

Redbird have to keep that profit margin and nothing will change that.

  1. I won’t lie fofana would be a great signing for us however I’ve grown sick and tired of this “drama series” this whole sale has become buy him or just move on stop with the cinematics this is football not the soap operas
