Reports: Milan refusing to give up on Fofana with third signing now secured

Having secured the services of Emerson Royal, and with the season opener around the corner, AC Milan will now have to focus on the midfield. Youssouf Fofana is the No.1 target and as per various outlets, the Rossoneri have not given up.

Geoffrey Moncada and his colleagues are working on reinforcing the team, having made three signings so far. However, the midfield was one of the priorities heading into the summer and the Rossoneri are yet to reinforce that department.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Milan haven’t given up on Youssouf Fofana despite the complicated negotiations with Monaco. The French side are still asking for €30m, helped by Man Utd’s interest, but Moncada still believes in the discount.

The alternatives, as the newspaper concludes, are Manu Kone (Monchengladbach) and Johnny Cardoso (Real Betis). Tuttosport adds (via MilanNews) that Milan can focus fully on the midfield now that an agreement has been reached for Emerson Royal, refusing to give up on Fofana.

It remains to be seen if Milan can reach a positive conclusion in the negotiations. What is certain, however, is that the season opener will take place one week from now. As such, one could argue that this is a failure by the management.
