Reports: Milan willing to pay €5-6m for expiring left-back in January

By Isak Möller -

Juan Miranda has ended up at the top of AC Milan’s wish list for the left-back position. His contract will expire in the summer and the Rossoneri are ready to make a move in January, several reports claim.

Theo Hernandez is currently the only proper left-back in the squad, not including Davide Bartesaghi, and one of Milan’s priorities is to fix that. Therefore, Real Betis’ Juan Miranda has ended up in their sights.

According to Sky Italia, contacts are ongoing for the 23-year-old and Milan are willing to spend €5-6m to get him already in January. Betis wanted €12m for him in the summer but since the renewal talks haven’t been positive, they could settle for half.

Daniele Longo has also confirmed that Milan will make an attempt in January, anticipating the competition. The renewal talks have not been successful for Betis so far and even if a January move gets shut down, the Rossoneri will try to get him in the summer for free.

More updates on the matter should arrive as we get closer to January.

    1. Juan Miranda has been capped by Spain. My gut tells me that if he comes in, Theo will be sold next summer to fund the next round of improvements. His contract is up in 2026, and a renewal seems unlikely. He’s in his prime and will probably demand 8-10M. I don’t think we’ll pay it. So next summer is the time to cash in for max value, or else you begin playing with the whole will we get something in 2025 or will he leave for free in 2026 drama. 80M should be enough.

      1. Yup. At some point all will be sold. I’m surprised he hasn’t asked for a move yet – prob cause he and his GF had a child not too long ago. But per his position and ranking amongst the top 3 LB in the world he is underpaid at 4M/season. Same with Mike. He can easily command 8-10M as well. We will see how bad these players want to stay in Milan and take less (like Leao). Should be an interesting summer.

        1. Fortunately, Mike and Theo are both more replaceable than Leao, so Leao’s renewal to 2028 was a major win for us. If both Theo and Mike are sold in the summer it will give probably give us ~150M, more than enough to find replacements and also greatly improve another position or two (striker & RB?).

          1. No, Mike and Theo are more constant than Leao, they can play in the starting line up of any club in the World including Real Madrid, on the contrary The Portuguese has to deserve to do it

          2. Sam, 100% nonsense. Maignan has been injured so much that you can’t say the is more constant than Leao. And Theo has been horrible this season and second half of last season, awfully bad. What?

      2. That didn’t even cross my mind. If Miranda pans out with our tactics it could be a great deal. Sell Theo for a huge amount and improve our Striker position.

  1. Theo play at average level at this point. And this has been happening for some time already…
Next summer is the best time to sell him, replace him and strengthen the team in other positions .
