Reports: Milan youngster set for first senior national team call-up

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan youngster Jan-Carlo Simic is expected to get his first call-up to the Serbian senior national team, showing how well he has developed with the Rossoneri this season.

As has been reported by Matteo Moretto (via Milan News), who cites a source in the Balkan country named Kurir Vesti, Simic is attracting attention from his national team setup and he could be involved in their matches during the next international break, which is in March.

Simic has represented the Serbian U16s, U17s, U18s and U19s in the past, totalling 21 games and three goals, a very good ratio for a defender.

Despite the fact that he is only 18 years of age, his work at Milan this season has caught the eye of Dragan Stojkovic and he could help Simic make the next step in his international career when they take on Russia and Cyprus.

Simic’s time has been spread between the Primavera side and the senior team at Milan this season, with the injuries to players like Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw accelerating his development.

He has played six games across Serie A and the Coppa Italia and he also got his first league goal under his belt early on.

  1. Sell that red card waiting to happen Thiaw, bring in Buongiorno and elevate Simic in the depth chart. In a couple of seasons it will be Buongiorno and him as the starting pair.
