Reports: Morata to miss at least three weeks after suffering muscle injury

Some bad news has arrived regarding Alvaro Morata, who will reportedly be out for the best part of a month with a muscle injury that he has picked up.

According to Sky and MilanNews, Morata has suffered a muscle issue that will keep him out for at least three weeks and therefore he should be out for the next two league games plus the international break.

He initially felt a problem the day before the game against Torino on Saturday but he played anyway, scored a big goal and suffered a relapse. It is a big blow for Paulo Fonseca and Milan who immediately lose their new starting centre-forward.

The Spaniard will be forced to miss the next two league games against Parma and Lazio and will not report for international duty with Spain, who in the next break will be in UEFA Nations League action against Luka Jovic and Strahinja Pavlovic’s Serbia and Noah Okafor’s Switzerland.

The day before the Torino game, Morata felt what he thought was a minor muscle problem, so the 31-year-old gritted his teeth and made himself available to Fonseca for the match against the Granata, coming on in the second half.

Unfortunately, however, the injury worsened and so he will be forced to stay out for at least three weeks. The goal is to get him back for Milan-Venezia – the first match after the break – but the following week contain the first Champions League game and then the derby.

  1. Holy hell, another muscle injury at Milan. Not surprised, when are we going to fire our medical staff and get a truly world class medical team!?

    1. The medical team from last year is gone…Fonseca brought his own team.

He was not supposed to be playing against Torino, but Fonseca became desperat…

  2. We need to stop buying players in their 30s FFS!! Oh the first injury of many looking forward to seeing Calabria playing upfront next with salad in goal, jokers oh and please mind the gap….

  3. Do we have somewhat same medical team as last season, or we have new ones? Not a lot of info on that. Not that i blame this injury on them, but it will be crucial for the season.

    1. There were less injuries in the second half of the season after a change in the training. I’m not sure if the medical team are the same.

  4. My exact fears realised before he’s even completed 90 minutes. Milan wake the f££k up and get another striker in. Okafor cannot lead the line and camarda only just begun playing against men. This should have been a priority even before zlatan finished and certainly knowing giroud was in his last year, to make sure we have 2 strikers. I can’t watch another season like last. Would have could have…blah blah blah

  5. It is sad to lose our main striker but timing of injury is good and would show management the importance of another healthy forward. We can’t just relay on Morata.

      1. That would be nice but one problem: have to convince his club to accept a 20M bid for him – because we certainly cannot go over that amount #TransferCap – AND we apparently have to sell 3 or more players before he can sign any new ones (despite claims that we don’t need to sell to buy); and convince him to accept less money than from the team in SA he is negotiating with. Should be easy

        Fantastic planning by management 🤡

  6. Is it too late to take the 9 away from Jovic? Shows you the lack of respect for the history from the management because they didn’t say, “fine you want the 9, earn it and you can have it next year.” It’s embarrassing, who was it, Destro or someone had the 9 during the banter years and I think this is worse.

  7. Well we did sign a striker in his 30s who has a lot of mileage in his legs, so injuries are to be expected.

No need to panic. Okafor has all the skills needed to be a successful striker and he has already shown he has an instinct for goals.
I would hope he can eventually surpass Morata and be the main man. This is a great chance for him.
I hope it is Okafor fonseca plays and Jovic as backup

  8. OK so back to square one.

This is why we need a reliable backup to Morata despite many people calling to use Jovic, which is we saw again, is a useless bag of limp d**ks.

An argument can be made again for Okafor, but so far he’s only been a clutch super sub. I have more questions for him as a starter than answers. But at this point it doesn’t seem we have any other option than to start him against Parma.

Fonseca wouldn’t be mad enough to start Jovic again, would he … ?

  9. Shocking!!! Who would have thought Morata at 31 can pick up an injury?? I mean shouldn’t he be able to play 50 plus games (with a game every 3 days) without issue?? Who could have foreseen such an event??? Certainly NOT management – who seems to think we are set at the # 9 position with the perfect #9 backup in Jovic??? 🤡😂 but wait we have a false #9 in Okafor so we alright and we have a 16 year old Carmada that should get us through 😂 And I’m sure after this injury Morata will be injury free the rest of the 9 month season. Yup

So rest up management – it’s Day 7 – no need to get off the couch
