Reports: Napoli join race as Milan ponder €10m offer for defender

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan could sign another centre-back this month, having already brought back Matteo Gabbia, and Lilian Brassier appears to be the primary target. However, the Rossoneri are set to face competition from Napoli, a report claims.

The defensive crisis has made life difficult for Milan in the last few months, with Theo Hernandez having to play at centre-back. Gabbia has been brought back from his loan at Villarreal, which is a boost, but the Rossoneri could sign another centre-back as well.

Brassier is at the top of Milan’s wish list, as reported by Calciomercato.com, but they are uey to make an official offer for the Brest defender. Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani are ready to put €10m on the table, but the French side continue to ask for €11-13m.

Furthermore, as Milan are still evaluating whether to make an offer or not, Napoli have joined the race. This was also reported by Sky Italia (via MilanNews) The Partenopei are expected to open new talks in the coming days, waiting to understand the Rossoneri’s next moves.

Stefano Pioli at least has a few centre-backs to rely on at the moment, with Gabbia, Kjaer and Hernandez available. It should also be considered that Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori should be back in action relatively soon, so a signing might complicate things for the future.
