Reports: Benzema, Kante and a huge salary – Pioli set for Al Ittihad job

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli has not had to wait long to find another job after leaving AC Milan and his next experience will take him to Saudi Arabia, reports claim.

According to what is being reported by Fabrizio Romano, the BBC and others, Pioli has signed a three-year contract with Al Ittihad, a team in the Saudi Arabian league. The Parma coach has therefore decided not to wait for other European offers and to accept a job in the Middle East.

After firing Marcelo Gallardo, Al Ittihad decided to go all in on Pioli and there were rumours in recent weeks suggesting that they would. Among others, the former Milan coach will be the coach of Fabinho, Karim Benzema, Ngolo Kanté and the former Lazio centre-back Luiz Felipe.

As for the salary that the coach will receive, even if it has not yet been fully confirmed, Radio Rossonera believe that some assumptions can be made based on what emerged regarding Marco Silva, the current Fulham coach.

Al Ittihad had offered him a salary of £15m per season, approximately €18m net (via Sky Sports UK). While we wait for the official figures, it is not ridiculous to think that the figure that the Italian will receive as Al Ittihad coach will be close to that offered to Silva.

  1. Does that mean the issue of us having to pay him whatever remained in his contract is solved ?
Since Fonseca is cheaper, will that somewhat boost our summer budget a bit ?
