Reports: Popovic in Italy with final details being resolved ahead of Milan move

AC Milan will soon complete the signing of Matija Popovic as the forward has landed in Italy ahead of undergoing his medical, reports claim.

Calciomercato.com report that Popovic is approaching Milan. The Serbian attacking midfielder convinced the Rossoneri with his performances at the last U17 European Championships and he has now landed in the city.

A new meeting is scheduled for the afternoon to define the final details and agree a contract until 2028, with the main thing being the commissions that his entourage will receive.

Milan have a clear advantage over Manchester City, who in recent days tried to steal him from the Rossoneri. The negotiation continued over the months, thanks to the expiry of his contract with Partizan Belgrade who left him out of the squad.

The move is one for the future given he is 17 years of age, but one of the big signs of Milan’s faith is the fact that he will take the final non-EU slot for the season. We explained what that means in a recent feature.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano confirms that Popović is in Milano today as the Diavolo are closing in on a deal to sign the Serbian talent as a free agent, with the final details being sorted in a meeting today.
