Reports: Spezia closing in on midfield signing as Milan abandon pursuit

By Isak Möller -

Spezia are closing in on the signing of Jean Onana, who has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan in the last few days. The Rossoneri have more or less abandoned the pursuit, reports claim.

It’s not exactly a secret that Milan are looking for a midfielder to bolster the squad this summer. There isn’t much time left of the transfer window, though, and it will be very interesting to see the Rossoneri’s next moves.

According to Il Secolo XIX (via MilanPress), Spezia are very close to completing the signing of Onana on a permanent basis from Bordeaux. They are about to collect €6m plus another €1.5m in bonuses from Janis Antiste’s exit to Sassuolo and will use that money.

Milan, as stated by Daniele Longo, will not make an offer to sign Onana on a permanent basis and have thus more or less abandoned the pursuit. They had previously made a loan offer, which was rejected by Bordeaux.

  1. 5 days left, Milan is no closer than it was in May, after the season, to bringing in a DM to replace Kessie or a CB to replace Romagnoli.
Not to mention that this would be the 6th transfer window in a row that Mladini fails to address the RW position. We will have fans who will continue attacking Saelemakers and Messias after every game, calling them trash, while defending Maldini who is the person that signed those 2 players and the person incapable of upgrading that position.

    1. Ask yourself if it was us, the fans, that targeted Onana, negotiated for him and failed to sign him.
That’s along with the other 3,4 midfielders they went after and failed

      1. Ask yourself if any of the news that u read is true and simply made up to make an impression that is not true about Milan’s transfer window.

Also now is a great time to remind you “Under Elliott Management Milan have drastically improved their balance sheet, going from a loss of €194m in June 2020 to €96m as of June 2021”

        1. “In European football, only 10 teams recorded a profit of £1 million or more during the period from 2019 to 2021. With over 1000 professional clubs in Europe, this means that less than 1% were significantly profitable.“ ya that’s doesn’t really matter that much

          1. So basically, everyone’s jumping over the bridge already so no need to worry?

Also there is a difference between operating profit and debt.

        2. “In European football, only 10 teams recorded a profit of £1 million or more during the period from 2019 to 2021. With over 1000 professional clubs in Europe, this means that less than 1% were significantly profitable.” you many want to rethink posting such misleading info buddy

  2. As I said several weeks ago, no one will come after CdK. These last weeks of market feels quite the same with the last winter when we failed to sign anyone. Just let’s end this mercatto before it gets more embarrassing. And let’s hope Pioli can pull another ‘miracle’ in using what he already has in hands.

  3. Maybe the player simply isn’t good enough for Milan if the only teams even remotely interested in him are Milan and Spezia. Just sayin’…
