Repubblica: Current Champions League campaign could see Pioli’s job at risk

While fans have often speculated how secure Stefano Pioli’s future as AC Milan head coach is, a report has emerged today suggesting results in Europe are needed.

According to what was stated by La Repubblica (via SempreMilan.it), the poor recent results suffered by Milan have raised doubts regarding Pioli’s future in the dugout. What aroused greater criticism, in addition to the results, was the team’s attitude in crucial matches such as those against Juventus, PSG and Napoli.

Furthermore, the atmosphere in the dressing room – which has always been the pride of Pioli’s management – seems to have deteriorated as demonstrated by Davide Calabria’s words post-PSG and by the angry reactions of Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud when they were taken off last night.

The paper speaks of a possible crossroads as soon as the end of the Champions League group stage: if the Rossoneri do not qualify for the knockout phase then Pioli’s position might well come into question.
