AC Milan are closely monitoring the situation regarding Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic having made him a target this summer, a report claims.
The Rossoneri were heavily linked with a move for Milenkovic throughout the summer window, but Calciomercato.com report how Fiorentina did not want to offer any discounts on their €40m price tag to interested clubs, something which ended up stopping Milan’s pursuit dead in its tracks.
Sunday’s edition of La Repubblica (via MilanNews) looks at the various renewal situations that Fiorentina are facing, and they described a new deal for Milenkovic as the most complicated case.
That is because the 22-year-old does not intend to extend his and therefore Fiorentina are ready to sell him, with Lucas Martinez Quarta’s arrival from River Plate at the end of the summer window no coincidence.
Milan could therefore have a downhill road if they chose to go back in for the Serbia international in the winter market, given they ended up not signing a defender.
