A goalkeeping merry-go-round could be on the cards soon and the domino effect would be started by the potential sale of Ederson to Saudi Arabia, a report claims.
Today’s edition of La Repubblica (via MilanNews) reports this morning that if Ederson – who is wanted in the Saudi Pro League – were to leave City, a ‘sensational carousel of goalkeepers’ could begin in Europe.
The Citizens would go for Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain to replace the Brazilian, who in turn would go for Mike Maignan of Milan, a player that was part of the PSG system when he was younger.
In the event of the Frenchman’s farewell, the Rossoneri would not be unprepared because the idea would be to go and get the Georgia international Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.
He would cost around €40m, a figure that Milan would presumably receive and more for the sale of Maignan, and has just had an excellent European Championship with his national team.
Speaking of which, Maignan showed his qualities with France at the Euros and many consider him to be the best goalkeeper in the world. He was named in the official Team of the Tournament, too.
Milan are ready to discuss a renewal for the ex-Lille man and a big pay rise is on the cards. Calciomercato.com reported recently that the feeling is now that Maignan will accept the offer.
Forty million is a lot of money, management will seduce valencia and lowballing to fifteen million or so till the end of august.

You need a shot stopper for PK shootouts. I think this is where Pep is going with this. It would mean moving away from his preference for GK being able to play with the ball at their feet. Though Donnarumma is no slouch, he’s also not renowned for it. However the ones that are also tend to make monumental muck ups anyways…so why not just get a stopper 🤷♂️
They already have good shot stopper in stefan ortega . Pep himself say stefan are very good GK in one on one vs striker.
Dollarumma is still having nightmares about trying to use his feet near Benzema in that UCL knock-out.

Cut the PSG out of equation. They need GK asap, we need striker and they need to quickly sell Alvarez. So let’s swap, get Mamarda as I was saying before these rumors came and let Donnarumma go with only Ligue 1 trophy for the rest of his life!
Ederson wont leave unless saudi club pay city 60m euro. Better renew that duo french fast ( theo & mike ) rather than sell them . If need to sell there is many un used player like origi ,ballo toure,saladmaker,colombo,nasti that can be offload
Ederson has 1 year left and will leave next season anyway, he won’t renew if he knows Saudi will pay him money. he will stay, cause he is literally in the top 3 team atm, will try treble again, and then for free go so Saudi.
So, why would Man City f around with this?
Get a replacement this season, so his assimilation will happen faster… this makes more sense when than high balling the fee

My countrymen, he carried us with his 29 saves in 4 games. Also it made him n1 keeper due to that stat, the next second had 10 less.
